Todayβs session, the 24th meeting of the 7th joint parliamentary sitting, was chaired by the Speaker of the House of the People, Hon. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), accompanied by the First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Hon. Ali Shacbaan Ibrahim, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Hon. Abdullahi Ali Hirsi (Timacadde), and the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Hon. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow.
At the outset, the Chief Whip of the House of the People, MP Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan (Nuux), administered the oath of office to Senator Abdirahman Barre Osman, who was formally sworn in as a member of the Upper House of Parliament. Following this, members of both Houses voted article by article on the Constitution. With a majority vote, the Federal Parliament of Somalia ratified the chapters, with 222 members presentβmeeting the quorum required for todayβs session.
In closing, the parliamentary leadership expressed gratitude to the legislators of both Houses for their role in ratifying the Constitution, noting that the 11th Parliament had fulfilled a long-awaited national duty on behalf of the Somali people. Finally, the Speaker of the House of the People announced that the 7th session of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, in both Houses, had been officially concluded.
