The Upper House
of the Federal Parliament
The Upper House of the Federal Parliament consists of 54 members. Each member of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament of Somalia bears a special responsibility to represent the interests of the Federal Member State they represent, to safeguard the federal system, and to work in a spirit of federal cooperation.
Senators hold public meetings to keep the community informed about the matters before the House, so that the public is well informed and consulted. Senators engage the public on development, national unity, peace and reconciliation, and they listen to the needs of the member states of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
